Admission to Membership

Any person whose usual occupation is one of those covered by National Rule 2(s) (Eligibility) may apply for membership of the Division by completing and signing an application for membership.

Such applicant shall become a member of the Division upon acceptance of the application by the Divisional National Secretary and upon payment of membership contributions as determined pursuant to the Divisional Rules.

Membership contributions are set by the Divisional National Council and are prescribed within the Divisional Rules.




Your Union

The Seaman's Union of Australia and Waterside Workers Federation merge to create the Maritime Union of Australia (1993). The lead-up to the merger saw the Marine Cooks Bakers and Butchers Association (formed in 1908) amalgamated with the SUA in 1983, and the Federated Marine Stewards and Pantrymen's Association merged in 1988. In 1991 the Professional Divers Association also amalgamated with the S.U.A.
